The Amaizeing Story: Part 1
An animated village where maize is the centre of everything, social life, politics and every decision in between.
Role
Animation and character work across the film.
The brief
Take a community whose entire life revolves around one crop, maize, and make it funny without making it cruel.
Approach
The village is played completely straight. The gatherings, the arguments, the politics all orbit the golden grain, and the comedy comes from how seriously everyone takes it.
It reads as a satire of a one-crop economy delivered as a charming story, which is the only register where that joke lands without turning into a lecture.
